Third day of disruption caused by wet weather
The Kent County Show will close early today in what is the third day of disruption caused by heavy rain.
Despite today’s drier weather, visitors are being urged to use public transport or make alternative travel arrangements instead of driving to the Detling site.
A statement on the show’s website said public car parks were full and only parking for members and green ticket holders was available.
It also stated the show would close at 4pm rather than 6pm.
The changes follow two days of disruption where car parks were inaccessible due to mud caused by torrential rain.
Friday saw new visitors turned away and the gates closed just three hours after opening.
But organisers stressed the “show would go on” and on Saturday, despite heavy downpours, the gates reopened.
However, organisers were forced to close all the car parks despite emergency repair works the previous day.
Visitors were urged to make other travel arrangements or travel via the shuttle buses from Maidstone.
A statement on the show’s website today (Sunday) said: “The show is open to visitors who can use public transport or be dropped off and will close at 4pm.
“We apologise to all members of the public who were planning to visit and may now be unable to come.”
