35-year-old woman Helen Lucas killed in collision
An inquest into the death of a 35-year-old woman killed on the M2 after getting out of her car following an accident has been opened and adjourned.
Helen Lucas, from Maidstone, died on February 8 after being hit by another car following an incident near the slip road of junction 2 of the coast-bound carriageway where her Peugeot 207 collided with the central reservation of the motorway.
She is believed to have got out of her vehicle and stood between the carriageway and central reservation. Shortly after it is reported she was hit by a silver Ford Mondeo.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The 22-year-old male driver of the Mondeo suffered minor injuries and was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital for treatment.
An inquest into Ms Lucas’ death was opened and adjourned and a full inquest will be held at a later date.
CCTV has revealed that several motorists stopped to help after the fatal collision but left the scene before officers were able to take their details.
Police would like to hear from these drivers.
Witnesses are asked to call police on 01622 798538.
