Hundreds of family and friends paid their final respects to the father-of-five who was killed in a hit-and-run incident just days after Christmas.
The funeral of Jack Treeby, from Rainham, was held at 10.30am this morning, at St Peter’s Church in Bredhurst.
His coffin was taken to the church by a horse drawn carriage and was followed by a procession of eight black limousines and seven flat bed lorries, each carrying various flower tributes thought to be worth thousands of pounds.
The flower arrangements included a bench press, tractor, forklift truck, a train and a large photo of Mr Treeby with the words ‘my brother Jack’.
The funeral party then travelled to Chatham Cemetery in Maidstone Road.
Police were on scene to manage the large convoy of cars.
Speaking shortly after the 43 year old’s death, his wife Karen said he “worshipped” her and their children.
She said: “He did not deserve what happened to him. I feel like my heart has been ripped open.
"We have been robbed of a wonderful, caring man who will live in our hearts forever.”
Several family members who were not present at the funeral included one of the victim’s brothers, Bill Treeby, 49, Bill’s wife Charity, 50, and their sons Billy, 29, and George, 22.
The four, of all Queen Street, Paddock Wood, have all been charged with Mr Treeby’s murder.
The two sons have also been charged with the attempted murder of their other uncle, Gary Treeby.
The murder took place on December 27, at 7pm, when Jack Treeby was crushed beneath the wheels of a Range Rover that sped towards him in Quarry Road, Tovil, in Maidstone.
Gary Treeby, 39, was also hit by the vehicle and suffered life-threatening injuries, which were exacerbated by the gunshot wounds he also received. It is thought he has now recovered.
The deceased’s son – also called Jack – suffered minor injuries when he too was clipped by the 4x4 as it sped away.
Police believe they may have recovered the vehicle used in the attack burnt out in Tong Lane, Lamberhurst, Tunbridge Wells.
Forensic examination of the car showed the remains of a firearm and ammunition inside the vehicle.
Inquiries are ongoing.
The four charged relatives are expected to enter a plea at Maidstone Crown Court on April 9.
